Advent E-Book
Celebrating The Season: An Advent Study is a walk through scripture that begins with the fall of man in the Garden of Eden and ends with the birth of our Savior. This study is a perfect way for children and adults alike to focus their hearts on the true meaning of the Christmas season. The book includes 25 Days, each with a scripture passage, printable ornament, discussion focus, and activities outlined by age. There is a short supply list detailing the items you will need to gather ahead of time for the study as well as a resources list at the end. It is my hope in writing this that your family will gain a better understanding of why Jesus came to the earth as a tiny baby in a manger and how that applies to your life today in a relevant way; anticipating His birth and making special family memories along the way!
Here’s what those who have read it are saying:
“This is great! I can’t wait to use it!!” ~ Amy, homeschooling mother of 3
“It’s absolutley phenomenal! A great work of God’s creativity and love!” ~ Lacey, homeschooling mom and blogger at The Well Traveled Day
A Sample Day:
Day 13 – A SHEPHERD OF THE PEOPLE
Read: 1 Samuel 16: 11-13 (full story – 1 Samuel 16, 17 and 2 Samuel 7:1-17)
Symbol/Ornament: Crook and Sheep or Harp
Focus: The harp or the sheep and crook are a symbol for the Good Shepherd, Jesus, who will lay down His life for others. David was just a young shepherd boy when God chose him to be King, but he did not actually take the throne until he was thirty years old. God chose David because he was a good shepherd, and because his heart was focused on the Lord, so God trusted him to take care of His people.
Activity:
- Color the Harp or Crook and Sheep.
- Place it on the Jesse Tree.
As a Family: All humans are God’s people even if they do not believe in Him or go to church. God cares deeply about each one of His people. Go for a drive through your neighborhood looking at Christmas lights. Pause in front of each house and pray for the family inside. Even if you don’t know them, God does. Alternately, you could do the same activity with Christmas Cards you have received.
Young Children: Read The Little Drummer Boy by Ezra Jack Keats
Older Children/Teens: Think about your role as a big brother or sister or older cousin or friend. How can you be a protector of those younger than you? Journal about it.
Adults: You are a sheep to the Good Shepherd and a shepherd to your sheep or your children. Pray with your spouse for each one of your children by name.
Pray: Lord, thank you for watching over us and protecting us. Amen.
You can download the entire book for your family to use this Christmas Season for $5.
